Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Microsoft founder Bill Gates announced a significant commitment to donate the majority of his $200 billion fortune over the next 20 years to improve health and education services in Africa.

Speaking at the African Union headquarters on Monday, Gates emphasized the importance of unlocking human potential through health and education. He encouraged African youth to consider how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance healthcare on the continent.

Gates's announcement follows his previous pledge to donate 99% of his wealth by 2045, the target date for his foundation's closure. Graça Machel, former First Lady of Mozambique, welcomed the announcement, calling it timely.
