United Nations Security Council Discusses Israel-Palestine Conflict

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held an open session to discuss the Israel-Palestine issue. Riyad Mansur, the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN, criticized Israel's attacks on Gaza. He stated these attacks deprive 2 million Palestinians, half of whom are children, of basic needs.

Mansur accused Israel of using starvation as a weapon against civilians. He urged all countries to uphold international law and support the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. He called on countries to recognize the State of Palestine.

Jonathan Miller, Israel's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, claimed Hamas rejected ceasefire proposals. He stated that Hezbollah in Lebanon is exacerbating the situation. Miller also called for international support to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
