On May 20, 2024, Ukrainian forces reported intercepting 93 Russian drones during overnight attacks. The drones were launched from Bryansk, Shatalovo in the Smolensk region, Orla, Millerovo in the Rostov region, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Krasnodar region.
According to the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 108 strike drones of the Shahed type and drones-imitators were launched. Ukrainian forces intercepted the drones in the east, north, and center of the country.
35 of the intercepted drones were shot down by fire, and 58 were destroyed or disabled by electronic warfare. Regions affected by the attacks include Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, and Zhytomyr.
Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA, reported damage to a farm in the Pavlograd region due to the attacks. Additionally, Russian drone strikes caused destruction and fire at an enterprise in the Synelnykove region. Strikes with FPV drones and artillery continued in Nikopol, Pokrovska, Myrovska, and Marhanetska communities, with no reported casualties.
The Sumy OVA reported drone and air bomb attacks on border areas. A large fire broke out at a civilian object in the Belopolsky community as a result of the attacks. Russian guided aerial bombs also hit the Yunakivka community, damaging two residential buildings, but no injuries were reported in the Sumy region.
