The German government has announced plans to increase its military personnel by 11,000 by the end of 2025. This expansion includes 10,000 soldiers and 1,000 civilian employees, representing a 4% increase in the Bundeswehr.
This move aligns with Germany's commitment to meet new NATO defense targets, addressing perceived threats from Russia. Germany is also investing heavily in military infrastructure, with a €500 billion fund planned over the next decade.
Furthermore, Germany will permanently station the 45th Panzer Brigade in Lithuania, its first permanent foreign military deployment since World War II. This brigade will consist of approximately 4,800 troops and 200 civilian staff, reinforcing NATO's eastern flank.
