The Council of the European Union has decided to extend its restrictive measures against Nicaragua, maintaining pressure on the nation due to its persistent political and social crisis.
These sanctions, initially implemented in 2019, will now remain in effect until October 15, 2026. The measures target 21 individuals and three Nicaraguan entities, encompassing asset freezes and entry bans for sanctioned individuals within the EU, as well as prohibitions for EU citizens and companies to provide funds to those on the sanctions list.
