Ethiopia Formalizes Debt Restructuring Agreement, Securing $3.5 Billion in Relief

Ethiopia has finalized a debt restructuring agreement with its Official Creditor Committee, providing over $3.5 billion in relief.

This agreement follows Ethiopia's 2021 decision to restructure its external debt under the G20's Common Framework.

The Ethiopian government intends to use this agreement to negotiate with other creditors, including bondholders.
