UK Launches Orpheus Mission to Protect Space Infrastructure

The UK is launching the Orpheus mission to protect space infrastructure from space weather, hostile activities, and orbital congestion. The mission, running through 2028, will deploy two mini satellites to monitor the ionosphere. Astroscale UK will oversee operations, collaborating with Open Cosmos Ltd., the US Naval Research Laboratory, University of Bath, and Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. The mission supports UK defense readiness and promotes global space domain awareness.
