China successfully launched the ChinaSat-9C communications satellite on June 20, 2025, from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. The launch, executed by a Long March 3B rocket, aims to replace the aging ChinaSat-9 and enhance domestic broadcasting services.

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) confirmed the mission's success, with the U.S. Space Force tracking the satellite in a geosynchronous transfer orbit. ChinaSat-9C, based on the DFH-4E platform, offers increased payload capacity and is designed for high-throughput applications.

The satellite, with a 15-year design life, will provide improved regional coverage for television and radio broadcasting. This launch is part of China's ongoing efforts to modernize its space-based infrastructure and support initiatives like the Belt and Road project.
