Airbus is set to showcase the MetOp Second Generation (MetOp-SG) mission and the Copernicus Sentinel-5 mission at its Toulouse facilities on April 8. MetOp-SG, the successor to the original MetOp mission, aims to enhance weather forecasting accuracy and climate evolution monitoring from polar orbit. The mission consists of six satellites, with the first MetOp-SG-A satellite scheduled for launch this summer from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana. The A-type satellites also feature the Copernicus Sentinel-5 instrument, designed to measure key air pollutants and climate-related gases. This mission is a collaborative effort between ESA, the European Commission, and Eumetsat, with Airbus Defence and Space leading the development of the A-type satellite and the Copernicus Sentinel-5 mission.
