NASA's Artemis Program Advances with Gateway Module Construction and International Collaboration Nearing Completion

NASA's Artemis program is progressing with the construction of the Gateway lunar space station. Technicians at Thales Alenia Space in Italy are completing final installations on the HALO (Habitation and Logistics Outpost) module, a key component of Gateway. This module will provide living and working space for astronauts, support scientific research, and host docking ports for visiting spacecraft. After final checks, HALO will be shipped to the United States for further outfitting. The launch of HALO and the Power and Propulsion Element is targeted for no later than December 2027 aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. International collaboration is central to the Gateway project, with contributions from ESA, JAXA, CSA, and MBRSC. Gateway will serve as a testbed for future Mars missions, studying the effects of deep space radiation and testing advanced spacecraft systems.
