Colorado-based space and defense technology startup True Anomaly is expanding its operations to Southern California, opening a 90,000-square-foot factory in Long Beach. The move aims to enhance the company's military market presence and tap into Southern California's aerospace talent pool.
The Long Beach facility will focus on designing, developing, and manufacturing products for the military, including classified U.S. Space Force programs. True Anomaly's headquarters and existing manufacturing remain in Centennial, Colorado, where it produces the Jackal satellite and Mosaic software.
True Anomaly, founded in 2022, concentrates on defense applications. The company is preparing for its first Space Force mission, Victus Haze, demonstrating rapid-launch capabilities. This mission involves coordinated operations between a Jackal satellite launched by Firefly Aerospace and a Rocket Lab spacecraft.
The company aims to offer fixed-price satellites, software, and services. However, True Anomaly faced challenges in March 2023 when communication was lost with Jackal satellites after deployment. A second mission in December 2024 has shown progress.
