June 17, 2025, China - CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. rolled out the CKD6H locomotive, a new energy collaboration with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.
This marks China's first overseas export of a standardized new energy locomotive, designed for green rail transit.
The locomotive uses a hybrid 'diesel engine + power battery' system, optimized for Central Asia's cold climate.
It features an EU IIIA-compliant diesel engine and lithium iron phosphate batteries, operating down to -50°C.
The intelligent energy management system provides over 45% fuel savings, 80% noise reduction, and 45-83% lower emissions compared to traditional diesel locomotives.
A single unit can reduce CO2 emissions by 240 tons annually.
The locomotive will undergo EAC certification in Kazakhstan in June, based on China's new energy locomotive standards, marking the first international adoption of these standards.
