A significant security breach has exposed over 184 million login credentials, raising concerns for online users globally. Cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler discovered the unprotected database, which contained usernames, passwords, emails, and URLs for numerous online services.
Major platforms, including Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Apple, are affected. The compromised data likely originated from infostealer malware, designed to extract login information from breached sites and servers. The unencrypted file lacked password protection, making it easily accessible.
Security experts recommend several steps to protect your accounts:
Immediately change passwords on all affected accounts.
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security.
Consider using a password manager to create and store strong, unique passwords.
Be wary of phishing attempts and deceptive messages.
Using iCloud+'s "Hide My Email" feature can also help protect your primary email address. Monitoring accounts for unauthorized activity is crucial.
