Samsung Unifies Smart Appliances with One UI for a Seamless Home Experience

Edited by: Tetiana Pin

Samsung Electronics is integrating its signature One UI platform into its smart home appliances, aiming to create a cohesive and intuitive software experience across smartphones, televisions, and home devices. This expansion, which began with models released in 2024, will see initial software updates rolling out in September 2025, promising a more unified interaction with household technology.

The integration of One UI into smart appliances ensures a consistent interface and shared services across Samsung's diverse product lines. Familiar applications such as Bixby, the Gallery, and Samsung TV Plus will now be accessible on various screen types, facilitating fluid inter-device communication and an enhanced media consumption experience. Connectivity is further bolstered through SmartThings, creating a centralized ecosystem for services like Family Care, Pet Care, and Home Care. Features like 'Now Brief' will provide glanceable, personalized information including weather updates, family schedules, and appliance-specific insights, such as remaining cycle times for washing machines.

Samsung is extending its commitment to product longevity and user security by pledging seven years of software updates for Wi-Fi-enabled smart appliances, starting with models launched in 2024. This policy mirrors the company's approach to its mobile devices, ensuring appliances remain functional, secure, and up-to-date throughout their lifecycle. This initiative aligns with a broader industry trend towards more sustainable and longer-lasting technology.

Security is also a key focus, with the Knox Matrix security system being extended to Wi-Fi-enabled appliances. This system incorporates Trust Chain technology, allowing devices to monitor each other's security status. For appliances equipped with screens, such as Family Hub refrigerators and Bespoke AI washers, enhanced security features including encrypted Credential Sync and Passkey support will be implemented, alongside a dedicated Knox Security dashboard for real-time monitoring.
