HTC has officially entered the smart eyewear market with the launch of its AI-powered Vive Eagle smart glasses on August 14, 2025. These glasses, weighing under 49 grams, feature a lightweight, minimalist design with ZEISS lenses offering UV protection. The open acoustic system provides spatial sound without isolating users, supported by Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.
The Vive Eagle integrates HTC's Vive AI, powered by OpenAI's GPT and Google Gemini, enabling voice commands for tasks such as capturing photos and videos with its 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, setting reminders, and receiving personalized recommendations. The glasses also offer real-time text translation in 13 languages. The camera captures photos at 3024x4032 pixels and videos at 1512x2016 pixels at 30 frames per second. A 235 mAh battery provides up to 36 hours of standby time and approximately 4.5 hours of continuous music playback, with magnetic fast charging capable of reaching 50% battery in 10 minutes. HTC emphasizes user data privacy, stating all data is stored locally, not used for AI model training, and protected with AES-256 encryption. An LED indicator signals when the camera is active, with automatic recording stops if the glasses are removed or the indicator is obstructed.
Initially, the Vive Eagle is exclusively available in Taiwan. Pre-orders are open from August 14 to August 31, 2025, through the official HTC website and select retail partners. The retail price is set at 15,600 New Taiwan Dollars, approximately 520 US Dollars, and the glasses are offered in four colors: red, brown, silver, and black. This launch positions HTC as a competitor in the smart eyewear market, alongside companies like Meta, Google, and Apple.
