Google Boosts Android Security with Automatic Reboot for Idle Devices
Google is enhancing Android security through a Google Play Services update. This update introduces an automatic reboot feature for devices that have been locked and inactive for three days. The goal is to better protect user data.
After three days of inactivity, the device automatically reboots into a secure state. This requires a passcode for access, preventing unauthorized attempts to access sensitive user information. This process essentially puts the device into a ‘Before First Unlock’ mode, encrypting the data and making it significantly harder to access without authorization.
The update, version 25.14 of Google Play Services, represents a significant advancement in data security for Android users. While Wear OS devices are excluded, the rollout has begun for other Android devices, promising enhanced protection against unauthorized access to personal data.
