Xpeng AeroHT's 'Land Aircraft Carrier' eVTOL Nears Mass Production with Significant Funding

Edited by: Tetiana Pin

Xpeng AeroHT, a division of Xpeng Motors, is advancing towards the mass production of its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle, the "Land Aircraft Carrier." The company has completed its dedicated production facility, with equipment calibration currently in progress, marking a significant step toward operational readiness.

This progress is supported by a substantial financial boost, as Xpeng AeroHT secured an additional $250 million in Series B funding in July 2025. This capital is designated to accelerate the development and commercialization of its flying vehicles, reflecting strong investor confidence. The funding announcement followed the structural completion of the company's specialized production facility.

The "Land Aircraft Carrier" features a unique modular design, comprising a six-wheeled ground vehicle, the "mothership," which carries a detachable flying module. This configuration enables the aerial component to operate independently for low-altitude flights, with the ground vehicle serving as both a transport and charging base. The production plant is scheduled to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2025, with initial deliveries of the "Land Aircraft Carrier" anticipated in 2026.

China's eVTOL industry is experiencing considerable growth, driven by the nation's focus on the "low-altitude economy." This sector is projected to reach a market size of $207.2 billion in 2025, supported by favorable government policies and strategic infrastructure investments. Industry analysis from Roland Berger suggests that by 2025, up to 3,000 air taxis could be in operation globally, with this number expected to grow exponentially. This expansion is fueled by the demand for efficient urban transportation solutions to alleviate traffic congestion and a growing emphasis on eco-friendly travel.

In parallel, Xpeng Motors is pursuing an ambitious broader strategy

.

The company is also actively expanding its global footprint, aiming to enter over 60 markets by the end of 2025 and aims to achieve breakeven in 2025. As of September 19, 2025, Xpeng AeroHT's "Land Aircraft Carrier" is in the advanced stages of production preparation. The company is actively engaging with regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to aviation standards, paving the way for the seamless integration of these innovative flying vehicles into the wider transportation ecosystem.

The development of Xpeng AeroHT's flying car represents a significant milestone for the eVTOL industry, highlighting China's commitment to pioneering advancements in the low-altitude economy and setting global standards for electric aviation. The company has already received over 5000 orders for its flying vehicles, indicating high market interest.
