Nissan Leaf Upgrades: Suspension, Powertrain, and Cabin Improvements

Edited by: Tetiana Pinchuk Pinchuk

Nissan continues to unveil the upgrades for the new Leaf ahead of its world premiere.

The second phase highlights improvements to the suspension, a more efficient powertrain, and a quieter cabin.

The electric motor, inverter, and power electronics are now integrated into a single unit, reducing its size by 10% compared to the previous motor-only unit.

Peak power can reach 214 horsepower, with torque at 355 Nm. The cabin noise level has been reduced by two decibels at 50 km/h, partly due to the ventilation box now being in the engine compartment instead of under the dashboard.

A multi-source heat pump, which also improves battery temperature control, is at the heart of this. The third generation of the Nissan Leaf uses a multi-link independent rear suspension.

The turning circle radius has been reduced by ten centimeters to 5.3 meters, achieved by fitting the car with larger wheels.
