Mitsubishi Reimagines the Eclipse Cross for Europe: An All-Electric Future with Renault Alliance Technology

Edited by: Tetiana Pin

Mitsubishi is launching a new era with the all-electric 2025 Eclipse Cross, a compact SUV that marks a significant step in the brand's electrification strategy for the European market. This new model signifies Mitsubishi's return to a fully electric offering in Europe since the i-MiEV, utilizing the robust technological foundation of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. The 2025 Eclipse Cross is built on the CMF-EV platform, a testament to the alliance's collaborative strength, and will be manufactured at Renault's ElectriCity Douai Plant in France.

The 2025 Eclipse Cross features a modernized aesthetic, building upon the distinctive styling of its predecessor with refined design elements. A standard panoramic roof enhances the cabin's airy feel, contributing to an elevated sense of spaciousness. For a more assertive presence, the NOIR Edition offers exclusive black accents and features, building upon the SE trim.

Underpinning the vehicle's dynamic capabilities is the Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, engineered to optimize traction and stability across diverse driving conditions. Safety is a paramount concern, with Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) featuring pedestrian detection and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) included as standard features across all trims. Higher trims also offer additional safety features such as Blind Spot Warning (BSW) with Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

Connectivity is seamlessly integrated through a 12.3-inch smartphone-link display audio system, fully supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Google built-in services. The 2025 Eclipse Cross will be available in several well-appointed trim levels, including the distinctive NOIR Edition.

The long-range variant, equipped with an 87 kWh battery offering an estimated 600 km (373 miles) of WLTP range, is slated for launch before the end of 2025. The electric motor delivers 160 kW (215 hp) and 300 Nm of torque. A mid-range variant, optimized for daily use, is anticipated in 2026.

This strategic collaboration with Renault not only showcases the synergy within the Alliance but also positions Mitsubishi to offer a compelling and technologically advanced electric compact SUV to the European consumer. The vehicle's development on a shared platform with the Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric allows for efficient production and leverages proven EV technology, ensuring a reliable and efficient driving experience as Mitsubishi continues its commitment to a more electrified future.
