Mazda is poised to enter a new era of electric mobility with the upcoming global debut of the CX-60e in 2026. Previously known as the EZ-60 in China, this all-electric SUV is the result of a strategic collaboration with Chinese manufacturer Changan, utilizing the advanced EPA1 platform shared with Changan's Deepal S07. The CX-60e is engineered to make a significant impact, particularly in markets like China, where the EZ-60 has already garnered substantial attention, reportedly exceeding 40,000 pre-orders.
The CX-60e embodies Mazda's signature Kodo design philosophy, blending it with the requirements of modern electric vehicles. Its exterior features a sleek, aerodynamic profile, characterized by a closed grille with an illuminated Mazda emblem and camera-based side mirrors for enhanced efficiency. Inside, the cabin showcases advanced technology, including a large 26.45-inch 5K central display and a 50-inch Head-Up Display, designed for an intuitive user experience.
This new Mazda SUV will be offered in two distinct configurations: a fully electric variant and a range-extended hybrid. The pure electric version is powered by a 190 kW motor and a 77.94 kWh battery, offering a CLTC-rated range of up to 600 kilometers. The range-extended model also features the 190 kW motor but pairs a smaller 31.73 kWh battery with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine acting as a generator, providing approximately 200 kilometers of electric-only driving before the engine engages, extending the total range to over 1,000 kilometers.
Both versions will be equipped with Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities, supported by a comprehensive suite of cameras and radar systems. In China, the Mazda EZ-60 is priced aggressively, starting at approximately 119,900 yuan (around $16,800 USD) for the base range-extended model and reaching up to 160,900 yuan (around $22,600 USD) for the top-tier electric variant. While European pricing is expected to be higher, the CX-60e is positioned to offer strong value, potentially challenging established competitors like the Tesla Model Y and Audi Q4 e-tron.
The vehicle's dimensions place it in the mid-size SUV category, measuring 4,850 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a substantial 2,902 mm wheelbase.
