Hyundai is set to introduce its latest electric offering, the Ioniq 2, at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich, Germany, from September 9 to September 14, 2025. This compact SUV will slot between the Inster and Kona Electric models in Hyundai's Ioniq family.
The Ioniq 2's exterior design is expected to draw inspiration from the Ioniq 6, featuring full-width LED lighting at the front and rear. Teaser images suggest a concept with a sleek, sporty silhouette, characterized by a sloping roofline and an integrated rear spoiler. Spy shots indicate the production model will retain this dynamic profile.
Underpinning the Ioniq 2 will be Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the same versatile architecture used for the Kia EV2. This shared platform suggests technological synergy between the brands. The Ioniq 2 is anticipated to feature a front-mounted electric motor delivering approximately 201 horsepower. Buyers will have a choice between a 58.3 kWh battery, estimated to provide a 430 km WLTP range, and a larger 81.4 kWh battery, with an estimated range of 600 km WLTP.
Early reports suggest a potential starting price around €30,000 in the European market. The Ioniq 2 will enter a competitive segment, facing rivals such as the Renault 4 and the Kia EV2. Hyundai plans to release further teaser images leading up to the IAA Mobility Show. Sales are projected to commence in the third quarter of 2026, marking a significant expansion of Hyundai's electric vehicle portfolio.
