China: Huawei and JAC have introduced the Maextro S800 luxury sedan.

The model is available as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and with a range extender (EREV).

The S800 aims to compete with Mercedes-Maybach, but at lower prices.

The S800 is 5.48 meters long with a 3.37-meter wheelbase, designed for rear passenger space.

Prices start at 708,000 yuan (approx. 86,600 euros) for the BEV version with five seats.

The four-seater BEV starts at 818,000 yuan (around 100,000 euros).

The BEV has two electric motors with a combined output of 390 kW, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.

The 97 kWh battery offers a range of 702 or 650 kilometers (CLTC cycle).

Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes 12 minutes.

The EREV version combines a 1.5-liter petrol generator with two electric motors.

The EREV five-seater costs from 708,000 yuan, and the four-seater starts at 1,018,000 yuan (around 125,000 euros).

The EREV utilizes a 65 kWh battery, offering 200 km of electric range (CLTC).

The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 10.5 minutes, or the petrol engine can provide power.

The combined range is 1,333 kilometers.

The Maextro S800 features Huawei's ADS4 intelligent driving system.

The launch marks a push by Chinese manufacturers into the luxury segment, challenging brands like Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Maybach.
