BMW has officially unveiled its iX3 electric SUV for the North American market, signaling a significant step in the company's electrification strategy. The iX3 is slated for its United States debut with the 2026 model year, with customer deliveries expected to begin in the summer of 2026.

This new electric SUV is the first production model to be built on BMW's innovative Neue Klasse platform, which introduces a fresh design language and an advanced electronics and software architecture. The U.S.-specification model showcased featured a Black Sapphire exterior, optional M Sport Package with 20-inch M design wheels, and a refined interior with a new M steering wheel.

While official pricing has not yet been released, estimates suggest the 50 xDrive model will start under $60,000, with the 40 xDrive variant projected to be priced below $55,000. The 50 xDrive is anticipated to offer an EPA-estimated range of up to 400 miles on a single charge, while the 40 xDrive is expected to provide a range slightly over 300 miles.

Production of the U.S.-bound iX3 will take place at BMW's new electric vehicle factory in Debrecen, Hungary. This facility is notable for being the first BMW car plant to operate entirely on renewable electricity. The iX3 will feature an 800-volt architecture and new cylindrical-cell battery packs, enabling impressive charging capabilities, including an 80% charge from 10% in approximately 21 minutes.

The dual-motor all-wheel-drive system in the iX3 is expected to generate 463 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque, allowing for an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.7 seconds. The interior will include a panoramic LCD instrument panel and a 17.9-inch central display powered by BMW's Operating System X. The vehicle offers seating for five passengers and a cargo capacity of 30.4 cubic feet, with an additional 2.0 cubic feet in the front trunk.
