Bentley Mulliner Unveils Batur Convertible: A Bespoke Masterpiece of W12 Power

Edited by: Tetiana Pin

Bentley Mulliner has introduced the Batur Convertible, an exclusive roadster representing the pinnacle of automotive craftsmanship from Bentley's bespoke division. This meticulously crafted vehicle embodies the brand's dedication to personalization and the powerful legacy of its W12 engine.

Each Batur Convertible is a unique creation, tailored to the owner's specific desires. The example showcased features a sophisticated Opalite finish with striking accents that highlight its progressive design. The interior artfully distinguishes the driver's and passenger's zones, a nod to classic sports car aesthetics. The driver's cockpit is finished in black leather and Alcantara with vibrant orange stitching, while the passenger area offers a lighter, complementary tone. Details such as dual-colored seatbelts and matching key fobs underscore the meticulous attention to every element.

Propelling the Batur Convertible is Bentley's renowned 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine, delivering 750 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. This powerplant is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a titanium exhaust system. The W12 engine is nearing the end of its production, making the Batur Convertible one of the final vehicles to feature this celebrated powertrain. Bentley plans to release one additional limited-series coupe to commemorate the W12's legacy.

Production of the Batur Convertible is strictly limited to just 16 units globally, with prices exceeding two million British pounds sterling. This exclusivity, combined with extensive handcrafting, reflects Bentley's forward-looking strategy as it transitions towards electrification. Bentley's CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, has stated that the brand believes "If it's just digital, it will never be luxury," emphasizing a commitment to tangible luxury through materials and artistry even as technology advances. Bentley's 'Beyond100+' strategy outlines a plan for annual introduction of new electric models starting in 2026, aiming for a fully electric lineup by 2035. The Crewe facility is being transformed into a 'Dream Factory' to support this evolution. The Batur Convertible thus serves as a graceful bridge between Bentley's W12 era and its electric future, upholding its core principles of exceptional craftsmanship and bespoke personalization.
