Aptera Motors has successfully completed a 300-mile road trip with its solar electric vehicle (EV), demonstrating the potential of solar-powered transportation. The journey commenced in Flagstaff, Arizona, where the vehicle's integrated solar panels generated 300 watts of energy prior to departure. Even under cloudy skies, the car captured over 545 watts of solar energy, highlighting its efficiency in varying weather conditions. Aptera's solar panels can generate up to 700 watts, potentially adding up to 40 miles of range per day in optimal sunlight. The vehicle's aerodynamic design, developed in collaboration with Pininfarina, boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.13, maximizing energy efficiency. The three-wheeled EV is projected to be priced around $40,000, making it a potentially accessible option for consumers interested in sustainable transportation.
