CATL's Sodium-Ion Batteries to Rival LFP in Cost and Energy Density

CATL, the world's leading battery manufacturer, is advancing its sodium-ion battery technology. The second generation of CATL's sodium-ion batteries are poised for mass production with significantly lower manufacturing costs than Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. CATL reports that the energy density of their sodium-ion batteries is now approaching that of LiFePO4 batteries, which are commonly used in EVs. CATL emphasizes a cautious approach to commercializing new technologies, focusing on mass production potential. CATL anticipates that sodium-ion batteries will have a cost advantage over LFP batteries once mass adoption is achieved.
