New Delhi: India has launched 'Bharat Gen,' an AI-based multimodal Large Language Model (LLM) designed for Indian languages. The model integrates text, speech, and image modalities, offering AI solutions in 22 languages.
Developed under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems, Bharat Gen aims to revolutionize AI development across India's linguistic and cultural spectrum. It is supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and implemented through TIH Foundation at IIT Bombay.
Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh described Bharat Gen as a national mission to create ethical, inclusive, and multilingual AI rooted in Indian values. The initiative seeks to empower sectors like healthcare, education, agriculture, and governance with region-specific AI solutions.
