OpenAI Developing High-End AI Agents for Specialized Tasks

Edited by: Veronika Nazarova

OpenAI is reportedly developing specialized AI agents with PhD-level intelligence for tasks like software development, sales, and research.

These agents, potentially costing up to $20,000 per month, could independently perform complex tasks with minimal human supervision.

An AI agent for "high-income knowledge worker" could cost $2,000 a month, a software developer AI agent could cost $10,000 a month, whereas, a one meant to assist "PhD-level research" would cost $20,000 a month.

SoftBank is expected to invest $3 billion in OpenAI's AI agents in 2025. The launch date and user availability remain unclear, but OpenAI CEO Sam Altman predicts AI agents will become part of the workforce in 2025.
