A novice video game developer created a flight simulator game, Pieter.com Flight Simulator, entirely using artificial intelligence in just three hours. Entrepreneur Pieter Levels used AI code editor Cursor, along with ChatGPT and Elon Musk's Grok-3, to build the game, adding features like destructible buildings and multiplayer functionality.
Musk, CEO of Tesla and owner of X, praised the project, sharing it with his followers and stating, "AI gaming will be massive." Musk revealed plans for an xAI gaming studio in February, after showcasing a version of Tetris that was generated using Grok. The richest man in the world explained this move is in the quest of making "video games great again". While the simulation shows the potential for AI tools to whip up functional game experiences, Pieter.com Flight Simulator lacks depth or unique mechanics.
