The Jakarta-based indie-rock outfit The Lantis has cemented its status as a major player in the Indonesian music scene, securing three key nominations at the prestigious Indonesian Music Awards (IMA) 2025. This significant recognition stems directly from the runaway success of their viral hit, «Bunga Maaf», which stands out as one of Indonesia’s most prominent indie releases between 2024 and 2025. The band is competing in three major categories:

The Lantis - Flower of Forgiveness

  • Group/Duo of the Year,

  • Alternative Song of the Year, and

  • Song of the Year.

  • The IMA ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 19, 2025, where the winners will be announced.

The track «Bunga Maaf», which debuted on November 15, 2024, rapidly transformed into a viral phenomenon, demonstrating massive reach and engagement across digital platforms. Key metrics highlight this success:

    • The song has accumulated over 31 million streams on Spotify,

  • The YouTube visualizer has garnered more than 15 million views, and

  • The track has inspired hundreds of thousands of user-generated videos created on TikTok and Instagram Reels.

  • Crucially, «Bunga Maaf» built upon the foundation laid by their previous smash hit, «Lampu Merah», which has accumulated over 65 million streams to date. Lyrically, the song resonates deeply with younger audiences, exploring themes of regret, repentance, and the genuine desire to apologize to a loved one.

The band members have openly acknowledged the transformative power of social media in their ascent. During a press conference held on November 12, 2025, vocalist Giri Wirandi emphasized that platforms like TikTok and Reels were instrumental in their promotion, particularly for emerging artists lacking substantial industry backing. Guitarist Ravi Rinaldi further elaborated on this shift, noting that short-form videos have become the new frontier for musical discovery, opening doors for acts that previously “did not pass through the industry filters.”

The Lantis was established in 2020, transitioning into a three-piece band in 2024 following the departure of drummer Risyad Fabian. The group released their album «Pancarona» in 2024. The creation of the nominated track, «Bunga Maaf», involved a significant collaboration with Rendy Pandugo. The Lantis’s distinctive sound skillfully blends vintage Indonesian styles, reminiscent of acts like Naif and The Adams, with contemporary indie-rock sensibilities. The band’s name, «The Lantis», originated from an inside family joke concerning the members frequently showing up to family gatherings dressed in identical clothing.

The Indonesian Music Awards serve as a crucial barometer for the industry's performance during the 2024–2025 period. The awards are jointly organized by RCTI, the Ministry of Creative Economy of Indonesia, and Langit Musik. Nominee selection is based on a combination of streaming data analysis and expert curatorial judgment. For 2025, the IMA features 15 distinct categories, supplemented by two special accolades:

    • Music Festival of The Year and

  • Sinergi Suara Award.

  • Addressing the evolving landscape, Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Jumaryo highlighted the increasing importance of digital content. He stressed the necessity for the entire music industry to adapt effectively to this new digital ecosystem, recognizing the shift in how music is consumed and discovered. The Lantis’s impressive haul of three nominations signifies that their honest, vulnerable, and authentic voice is finding a powerful connection with a new generation of listeners.
