Australian indie rock band The Temper Trap has released "Lucky Dimes," their first new music in nearly a decade. The single, produced by Styalz Fuego, known for his work with Troye Sivan and Charli XCX, features a more powerful sound with energetic guitar riffs and compelling percussion. A music video directed by Joey Clough accompanies the release.
Frontman Dougy Mandagi expressed the band's excitement, stating, "Good to know that 9 years after the last one, we still have something to say. It's been an absolute pleasure creating this record, and we can't wait to share it with you; not to relive the past, but to write the next chapter." The release follows renewed appreciation for their 2008 hit "Sweet Disposition," which recently ranked 11th in triple j's Hottest 100 Australian Songs of all time. The song's global success was amplified by its inclusion in the soundtrack of the 2009 film "500 Days of Summer," and subsequent remixes have garnered hundreds of millions of streams.
Styalz Fuego, a Grammy-nominated producer, co-wrote and produced "Lucky Dimes," which was mixed by Spike Stent. The Temper Trap is currently embarking on a U.S. tour, with performances scheduled at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, on August 14, 2025, and Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre in Englewood, Colorado, on August 15, 2025.
