Liniker wins three categories at the Latin Grammy Awards 2025
Liniker Sets Latin Grammy Record, Securing Three Awards for 'Caju'
Edited by: Inna Horoshkina One
Brazilian sensation Liniker made history at the 26th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, held on November 13, 2025, in Las Vegas. The artist secured a remarkable three statuettes during the ceremony, elevating her career total to four Latin Grammy wins. This achievement officially establishes Liniker as the most decorated transgender woman in the history of the Latin Grammy Awards. Furthermore, her overall Grammy count now places her on par with non-binary artist Sam Smith, trailing them by only a single award.
All three of these recent triumphs are directly tied to her critically acclaimed second studio album, «Caju» (2024). Released on August 19 by Breu Entertainment, the project was a major contender across multiple categories. Liniker, who recorded and produced the album herself in collaboration with Fejuca and Gustavo Ruiz, saw «Caju» earn the prestigious award for Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese.

The composition «Veludo Marrom», widely considered the emotional core of the record, contributed significantly to her historic evening by netting two additional accolades. Liniker was recognized for Best Portuguese Language Song—a category where she holds the distinction of being the sole lyricist—and also for Best Contemporary Urban Performance in Portuguese. This dual success underscored the track's profound impact and artistic merit within the competitive Portuguese music landscape.
During her deeply personal acceptance speech for «Veludo Marrom», Liniker took the opportunity to shed light on the harsh realities faced by trans creators in Brazil. She delivered a powerful statement, noting the immense difficulty: “Being a transvestite author in a country that kills us is incredibly difficult.” She stressed the vital necessity for the voices of her community to be amplified, urging that their stories be told, recognized, and celebrated increasingly—just as they were that night.
Beyond its critical acclaim, the album «Caju» proved to be a significant commercial powerhouse. The project has surpassed an impressive 262 million streams to date, with every single track successfully charting in the Brazilian Spotify Top-200. The supporting tour, the «Caju Tour», was equally successful, highlighted by sold-out concerts in São Paulo in November 2024, demonstrating her widespread appeal and connection with audiences.
The creation of the album involved collaborations with several highly regarded artists, including Amaro Freitas, BaianaSystem, Lulu Santos, and Pabllo Vittar. Sonically, «Caju» is a vibrant blend of genres—MPB, soul, R&B, samba, jazz, disco, and reggae—forming a unique soundscape where Liniker confidently defines her artistic space. Her triumph at the 2025 Latin Grammys transcends personal victory; it marks a pivotal new era for Brazilian and Portuguese-language artists, who often operate in the shadow of the larger Spanish-language industry. Continuing her advocacy, Liniker, who was inducted into the Brazilian Academy of Culture in 2023, taking the seat of the legendary Elza Soares, utilizes her platform to expand visibility, respect, and dignity for the trans community through her music, words, and presence.
