Assamese singer Joi Barua has released a powerful live, composer's rock rendition of "Star Among the Cosmic Clouds," a significant track from the animated film "Cosmic Rhapsody." The performance was recorded at the renowned Abbey Road Studios and features accompaniment from musicians of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a piano concerto.

The single, released on Signum Records on October 3, 2025, coincides with the global observance of World Space Week, an annual celebration from October 4-10 dedicated to advancements in science and technology. "Cosmic Rhapsody" itself draws inspiration from NASA's 2020 CrewDragon mission, symbolizing humanity's spirit of exploration. The film and its music are a testament to the convergence of human ingenuity and artistic expression.

The orchestral version of "Star Among the Cosmic Clouds" is a key component of the film's soundtrack. It features collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Voices choir, and vocalist Killian Donnelly. This rendition is part of the broader musical landscape for "Cosmic Rhapsody," which includes the album "Lim Cosmic Rhapsody for Piano and Orchestra," released in May 2025, featuring Killian Donnelly and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. A live performance at the Barbican Concert Hall with Tom Ball and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra further highlights the project's artistic scope.

The choice of Abbey Road Studios, a venue steeped in musical history, adds gravitas to Barua's performance, connecting contemporary artistry with a rich legacy. World Space Week commemorates pivotal moments in space history and aims to foster understanding and appreciation for space science. It was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1999 to celebrate the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of humanity. The dates were chosen to commemorate the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, Sputnik-1, on October 4, 1957, and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967. "Cosmic Rhapsody," through its music and narrative, explores themes of human resilience, technological advancement, and humanity's place in the universe, reflecting aspirations for discovery and harmonious coexistence.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1946, is known for its versatility and participation in diverse projects.

The musical work, created by surgeon Susan Lim and neurologist Christina Tinz Tan, with music by composer Manu Martin, is a vivid example of the synergy between art and science. This composition, which is part of the ALAN trilogy, highlights how music can serve as a means to express complex ideas and inspire positive change, demonstrating the boundless potential of human imagination and the desire to explore the unknown.
