Ed Sheeran is set to release his new album, 'Play,' on September 12th through Gingerbread Man Records/Atlantic Records. The announcement comes alongside the release of the song "Sapphire," which Sheeran describes as the track that solidified the album's direction.

"Sapphire" was recorded in Goa, India, with contributions from Indian musicians. Sheeran collaborated with Arijit Singh on a Punjabi version of the song, slated for release in the coming weeks. This version will feature more of Singh's vocals.

"Sapphire" follows the previously released singles "Azizam" and "Old Phone." The album version of "Sapphire" is highlighted by Sheeran as his favorite track on the upcoming album.
