Billie Eilish was the night's big winner, securing awards in all seven categories she was nominated in, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for "HIT ME HARD AND SOFT", and Song of the Year for "Birds of a Feather." She also won Favorite Female Pop Artist, Favorite Pop Album, and Favorite Pop Song. Doechii won Social Song of the Year for "Anxiety".
The AMAs honored Janet Jackson with the Icon Award and Rod Stewart with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Stewart, who last performed at the AMAs over two decades ago, performed his hit song “Forever Young”. Kendrick Lamar, despite receiving ten nominations, won Favorite Hip-Hop Song for "Not Like Us."
