Ghost's 'Skeletá' Album: Personal Demons, 80s Rock, and a New Papa

Edited by: Inna Horoshkina One

Ghost's highly anticipated sixth studio album, 'Skeletá,' was released on April 25, 2025, via Loma Vista Recordings. The album, initially conceived for a 2020 release but delayed, arrives in a world grappling with fragility, mirroring Ghost's ability to portray historical issues as contemporary challenges.

Led by Tobias Forge, now performing as Papa V Perpetua, 'Skeletá' delves into personal themes. The single "Satanized" explores inner turmoil, while other tracks focus on love and hurt, adding theatrical depth. Forge has described the album as more introspective and focused on healing.

Musically, 'Skeletá' embraces 1980s influences, featuring synthesizers, guitar solos, and vocals reminiscent of arena rock. Songs like "Peacefield" and "Missilia Amori" showcase this style, with some fans noting similarities between "Peacefield" and Journey's "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)." The album is produced by Gene Walker and mixed by Andy Wallace and Dan Malsch.
