Spotify's annual Loud & Clear report for 2024 reveals significant growth in the music industry, especially for Indian artists. The report highlights that Spotify distributed over $10 billion in music royalties globally in 2024. This marks a substantial increase, with total payouts reaching approximately $60 billion since Spotify's inception.

Streams of Indian artists on Spotify have surged by over 2,000% in international markets between 2019 and 2023. In 2024, Indian artists garnered over 11.2 billion discoveries by new listeners on Spotify, a 13% year-over-year increase. The number of Indian artists generating more than INR 5 million in royalties from Spotify has more than doubled since 2022.

The report further indicates that artists earning over INR 10 million have tripled, and those exceeding INR 50 million have doubled. Approximately two-thirds of the royalties generated in India in 2024 were attributed to Indian artists. Nearly 50% of royalties earned by Indian artists on Spotify in 2024 came from listeners outside India. Over 9,000 Indian artists were featured on global and local editorial playlists.

The U.S., U.K., UAE, Pakistan, Canada, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka are among the countries where Indian-language songs were most streamed. Royalties for Indian artists performing in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu have more than doubled since 2021. Telugu music experienced a 39% year-over-year increase in global royalties.
