Ay Yola Band Members Honored After "Homay" Chart Success
The ethnic music group Ay Yola has received honorary titles following the success of their track "Homay" on global music charts. Radiy Khabirov, the Head of Bashkortostan, announced the honors through a government communication.
Rinat Ramazanov, known for throat singing and playing the traditional Bashkir flute quray, has been named the People's Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Adel Shaykhitdinova, the band's vocalist, and her father, sound producer Ruslan Shaykhitdinov, have been recognized as Honored Artists.
The song "Homay" gained international recognition after its release on March 14, 2025. It blends Bashkir folklore with modern electronic music. The track quickly climbed the charts, reaching the top of Apple Music in Ukraine and entering the top five most popular tracks on Shazam, surpassing artists like Lady Gaga. The song is based on the Bashkir epic "Ural-Batyr", telling the story of a woman-bird who helps the hero Ural battle evil forces.
Ay Yola, formed in January 2025, draws inspiration from their hometown of Ufa. The band's members have a long history in music. Adel Shaykhitdinova previously won a singing competition and worked with major Russian music labels. Ruslan Shaykhitdinov, also known as DJ Sever, is a recognized DJ and producer. Rinat Ramazanov has received acclaim for his solo project "Argymak".
