Sharon Stone, renowned for her role as Catherine Tramell in the 1992 film "Basic Instinct," has recently shared insights into her experiences during the film's production and its subsequent effects on her personal life. In a 2023 interview, Stone described the process of making the film as a "scary journey," emphasizing the introspection it required. She stated, "I got to confront my whole self, and that's a scary journey. But once you do it, you walk away with a tremendous amount of confidence because you've had to look at all of yourself, parts of yourself you would never have to dig deep and look at, scary parts, dark parts, concerning parts."

Stone also discussed the challenges she faced during the film's production, noting the significant pressure on set. She mentioned that director Paul Verhoeven experienced health issues due to the stress, highlighting the intense environment during filming.

Reflecting on the film's legacy, Stone observed that the genre of erotic thrillers has seen a resurgence, with new films exploring themes of infidelity and danger. She noted, "I think people like that. It's fun and it's exciting and they're sexy. I mean, what's wrong with that?"

Stone also recounted personal challenges following the film's release, including a custody battle where her role in "Basic Instinct" was used against her. She recounted an incident where a judge questioned her son about her involvement in "sex movies," a moment that deeply affected her.

Despite these challenges, Stone's performance in "Basic Instinct" remains a significant part of her career, showcasing her ability to tackle complex and provocative roles in cinema.
