Netflix Ends $100 Million Deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Netflix has decided not to renew its $100 million deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, marking the conclusion of their multi-year partnership. The agreement, initiated in 2020, was set to expire in September 2025. Both parties have mutually agreed to part ways, with no official public statement expected.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, through their production company Archewell Productions, have produced several projects under this deal. Their initial docuseries, "Harry & Meghan," released in December 2022, became Netflix's most-watched documentary debut, attracting over 28 million households in its first four days. However, subsequent projects did not achieve similar success. "With Love, Meghan," a lifestyle series featuring Meghan Markle, premiered in March 2025 and garnered 5.3 million views, ranking 383rd on Netflix's engagement report. Another project, "Polo," executive-produced by Prince Harry, attracted 500,000 viewers and ranked 3,436th on the platform.

Industry insiders suggest that Netflix's decision reflects a broader shift in the company's content strategy, moving away from large, multi-year talent deals in favor of more flexible, project-specific arrangements. Despite the conclusion of this partnership, there is no animosity between the couple and Netflix, and future collaborations on individual projects remain a possibility.

This development also highlights the evolving dynamics of celebrity-driven content in the streaming industry, where audience engagement and content performance are critical factors influencing the renewal of high-profile deals.
