Chris Brown has been granted bail following a court appearance related to a grievous bodily harm charge. The American singer was previously held in custody after being accused of assaulting a music producer at a London nightclub.

The 36-year-old is accused of using a bottle to injure Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair on February 19, 2023. Brown was arrested on May 15 at the Lowry Hotel in Salford, after arriving in Manchester to rehearse for his 20th anniversary tour.

During a hearing at Southwark Crown Court, Brown was granted bail. He had previously appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court, where it was decided he would remain in custody until June 13. The singer is charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Adele Kelly stated that authorities authorized charging Brown with grievous bodily harm under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. She emphasized the importance of avoiding any commentary that could prejudice the ongoing proceedings.

Brown's representative, Grace Forbes, argued for bail, highlighting his public profile. Brown had announced his tour in March, expressing excitement about sharing the milestone with his fans.
