A lip-reading expert claims Brigitte Macron called her husband, French President Emmanuel Macron, a "loser" before their trip to Vietnam. The incident allegedly occurred at the top of the airplane stairs as they prepared to disembark.
According to the Daily Express, Brigitte ignored Macron's offered arm and whispered, "Dégage, espèce de loser," which translates to "Get away, loser!" Macron reportedly responded, "Essayons, s'il te plaît" ("Let's try, please"), to which Brigitte allegedly replied with a firm "No." The exchange supposedly ended with Macron saying, "Je vois" ("I see").
The viral video of the incident shows Macron frowning after being seemingly pushed away. His office initially described the interaction as a harmless squabble, then as a moment of complicity. They stated the couple was joking and relaxing before the start of their Southeast Asia tour.
The video shows hands pushing Macron's face away. Only the hands and red sleeves, matching Brigitte's jacket, are visible. After being pushed, Macron stepped back before greeting the public.
