Penn Badgley Reveals His Pick for Gossip Girl: Dorota Over Dan Humphrey

Penn Badgley, known for his role as Dan Humphrey in Gossip Girl, recently shared his thoughts on who should have been revealed as the infamous blogger. He agrees with a popular fan theory, suggesting a different character would have been a more compelling choice.

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Badgley stated that he and others involved with the show initially wanted Dorota, Blair Waldorf's maid, to be Gossip Girl. Dorota, a fan favorite, was considered a more intriguing option.

However, Badgley explained that the producers insisted Gossip Girl had to be a series regular, one of the core six characters. This requirement ultimately ruled out Dorota, as the reveal needed to impact the main storyline.

The show's original writer, Joshua Safran, even admitted he hadn't intended for Dan to be Gossip Girl. Safran had envisioned Nate Archibald in the role, but left the show before making the final decision.

Badgley recalled finding out he was Gossip Girl while in the hair and makeup room. He had little time to process the information before filming the reveal scenes the next day.

While the reveal of Dan as Gossip Girl remains controversial, Badgley's perspective offers a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes discussions and alternative possibilities for the show's ending.
