King Charles and Queen Camilla Arrive in Rome for State Visit, Strengthening UK-Italy Ties

King Charles and Queen Camilla have officially commenced their state visit to Italy, arriving in Rome to a resounding welcome. The royal couple's arrival was heralded by the roaring engines of Italian Air Force F-35 jets, escorting their plane and marking the start of their four-day tour aimed at celebrating the strong bond between the United Kingdom and Italy. They were greeted at Ciampino Airport by Edward Llewellyn, the UK Ambassador to Italy and San Marino, who emphasized the visit's lasting impact. Ambassador Llewellyn highlighted the King and Queen's deep affection for Italy, its culture, cuisine, and traditions. King Charles, despite recent reports of a brief hospital stay due to chemotherapy side effects, appeared in good spirits. Queen Camilla, mindful of a near-mishap during a previous visit to France, carefully navigated the aircraft steps. The Queen chose a classic navy blue dress, a color often associated with royalty, adorned with a shiny trim. A jacket was on hand to guard against any temperature changes. Unfortunately, a meeting with Pope Francis will not be possible due to the Pope's ongoing recovery from bilateral pneumonia. The visit is expected to further solidify the close relationship between the two nations.
