Wendy Williams Claims Guardianship, Disputes Dementia Diagnosis, and Yearns for Freedom

Wendy Williams, the former talk show host, is currently under a court-ordered guardianship and residing in an assisted living facility. Williams claims she is being held against her will and disputes the diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and dementia she received in 2023. She asserts her cognitive abilities are intact and desires to regain control of her life and finances. Williams has been vocal about her dissatisfaction with the guardianship, stating that her guardians "don't look like me, they don't dress like me, they don't talk like me, they don't act like me... They will never be me." She has also raised concerns about the management of her finances under the guardianship. Despite the challenges, Williams maintains a positive outlook, stating, "I am fabulous. I'm better than good... I am very much alive. I deserve freedom, darling." A new cognitive test has been ordered and will be conducted on Williams sometime within the next few months.
