Colombo's Culinary and Artistic Renaissance: Cinnamon Life Unveils a New Era

Edited by: Olga Samsonova

Colombo, Sri Lanka – The cityscape of Colombo has been further enhanced with the opening of Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, an integrated resort aiming to redefine Sri Lanka's hospitality and cultural offerings. This development, representing South Asia's largest single investment in the hospitality sector at over USD 1.2 billion, underscores Colombo's growing global significance.

Cinnamon Life features twelve distinct restaurants and bars, offering a diverse culinary experience. Guests can explore Japanese flavors at Yoroko, Indian spices at Indiya, and American-style steaks at Staten Bar & Grill. French delicacies are available at Bistro des Marées, and refined Cantonese cuisine at Sapphire Dragon. For drinks, Flux offers cocktails with ocean views, Dreams & Beats provides a relaxed bar and pool ambiance, Cloud Wine features an extensive wine selection, and Gatz serves classic cocktails.

Beyond its dining options, Cinnamon Life serves as a cultural hub, integrating over 1,000 art pieces by Sri Lankan artists throughout the resort. This initiative transforms the venue into a gallery celebrating Sri Lankan artistry. The resort is also slated to host significant cultural events, including the Sri Lanka Design Festival (SLDF) and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Sri Lanka (MBFWSL).

The Sri Lanka Design Festival, now in its 15th edition, focuses on advancing design innovation through exhibitions, fashion shows, and conferences. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Sri Lanka, a collaboration between AOD and DIMO, has consistently provided a platform for Sri Lankan fashion talent. Its seventh edition was scheduled for December 2023, with applications for the 2024 edition opening in August.

These events highlight Colombo's emergence as a creative hub, attracting international attention to its design and fashion industries. The strategic vision for Cinnamon Life aims to establish Colombo as a primary destination, blending world-class amenities with a deep appreciation for local culture and creativity. This integrated approach offers a holistic experience, inviting locals and international visitors to engage with the dynamic spirit of South Asia's evolving cultural and economic landscape.
