Oliver Laxe's film "Sirât" premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, marking his first entry into the main competition. The film is noted for its unique and genre-bending style, exploring themes of family, culture, and survival in a collapsing world.

"Sirât" follows Luis (Sergi López) as he searches for his daughter Mar, who disappeared into the Moroccan Sahara's illegal rave scene. He is joined by his young son Esteban, and they navigate a landscape of rave parties and military presence. The film depicts a near-future where Morocco becomes an "interzone" for diverse cultures amid global collapse.

Laxe's film blends elements of adventure and tragedy, questioning traditional family structures and imagining a post-capitalist utopia. With stunning cinematography, "Sirât" offers a tactile and material experience, delving into characters' emotions through their environment. The film had its world premiere on May 15, 2025, and is currently seeking U.S. distribution. It is set to be released in French theaters on September 3, 2025.
