David Leitch, known for directing action-packed movies such as 'Bullet Train' and 'Deadpool 2,' is reportedly in negotiations to direct a 'Gears of War' film adaptation for Netflix. Netflix is partnering with The Coalition Studio, the game's developer, for this project. Jon Spaihts, who has worked on 'Dune' and 'Doctor Strange,' is writing the script.
Leitch and his wife, Kelly McCormick, will produce the film through their company, 87North, along with The Coalition. The 'Gears of War' storyline revolves around humanity's fight for survival against monstrous underground creatures known as the Locust Horde.
Leitch's potential involvement suggests a high-octane approach to the adaptation. The film is part of a broader 'Gears of War' expansion by Netflix, which includes an animated series. Casting details are yet to be announced, but Dave Bautista has expressed interest in playing Marcus Fenix.
