The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has announced the first four official entries for its 51st edition, set to take place in 2025. The grand launch event, held on July 8, 2025, in Makati City, carried the theme "A New Era for Philippine Cinema." The festival aims to embrace change and further support Filipino films.
The initial lineup includes "Call Me Mother" starring Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre, directed by Jun Robles Lana. Also featured are "Rekonek," directed by Jade Castro, starring Carmina Villarroel, and "Manila's Finest," directed by Ray Red, starring Piolo Pascual. Completing the first batch is "Shake, Rattle, and Roll: Evil Origins," directed by Shugo Praico, Joey de Guzman, and Ian Loreños, with a large ensemble cast.
The second batch of official entries will be revealed on September 30, 2025. Key events include the Parade of the Stars on December 19, screenings starting December 25, and the Gabi ng Parangal awards night on December 27. The MMFF continues to be a significant platform for Filipino cinema, showcasing diverse stories and talent.
