The legendary saga of Highlander is being revitalized with a new cinematic vision helmed by Chad Stahelski, the acclaimed director behind the "John Wick" franchise.

The highly anticipated reboot is set to star Henry Cavill as the iconic immortal warrior Connor MacLeod. Adding significant star power to the ensemble, Russell Crowe has joined the cast to portray Ramirez, the wise mentor figure originally brought to life by Sean Connery. This casting marks a notable reunion for Crowe and Cavill, who previously shared the screen in "Man of Steel." Crowe's portrayal of Ramirez, an immortal born in ancient Egypt, will guide MacLeod through the centuries-old conflict of the immortals.

Further bolstering the formidable cast, Dave Bautista is reportedly in final negotiations to embody the menacing villain, The Kurgan. Bautista, known for his imposing physical presence in roles such as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is expected to deliver a compelling and powerful antagonist. The Kurgan, originally played by Clancy Brown, is the primary nemesis of Connor MacLeod, a role that Bautista previously circled for an earlier iteration of the project.

Filming for the "Highlander" reboot is scheduled to commence in late September or early October 2025, with a projected release window between 2027 and 2028. Stahelski, who has been developing the project for years, aims to honor the spirit of the original 1986 film while infusing it with his signature dynamic action sequences and a fresh perspective. The original "Highlander," released in 1986, became a cult classic, celebrated for its unique blend of fantasy, action, and a distinctive soundtrack. The new film seeks to capture that enduring appeal while expanding the mythology for a new generation.
